#4 The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon

Available for: Xbox 360 - PS3 - Wii - PS2 - DS
Release date: Out now
ESRB rating: "E10+" for Everyone 10+

Sum up:
Like the previous Spyro games before it, Dawn of the Dragon is a platformer, and the third (and final) game in the Spyro trilogy. It has some big names voicing the main cast, like Elijah Wood as Spyro, Gary Oldman and Christina Ricci as the allied supporting characters, and Mark Hamill voicing the main villain.
The base gameplay revolves around you flying, jumping and fighting your way through many colorful levels, while trying to ultimately defeat "The Dark Master."

The biggest addition to this game is the ability to spread Spyro's wings and fly at any time (and anywhere) in the game's levels. And there's an extensive co-op mode, where another player can jump in as the secondary character and help Spyro explore places he couldn't reach alone.

Recommended age:
The ESRB rated this game "E10+" for Everyone 10+, listing "Fantasy Violence." This obviously refers to Spyro's ability to spew flames from his mouth and set enemies aflame, in addition to his ability to attack enemies with his tail, ice, and electric powers. And although the violence is presented in a cartoony, and kid-friendly fashion, the story is slightly more intense and has a darker tone, which might scare/spook some kids 7 under--including the fact that a few of the gameplay mechanices might be over their heads. But because of the co-op mode, I could see some younger kids playing it with older siblings.
