Content review for this game:

Comic mischief: Not much to say, other than there is mischief, and it is comical. Though, in all seriousness, there are two main characters--well, more like sidekicks. One is Daxter; half otter, half weasel. And "Pecker" (I know); half parrot, half monkey. They fight like crazy throughout the game. I'ts pretty much a cartoony, if not a bit crude, feud between the two.

Language: In one scene Daxter states, "Our boy here gets all mean here when you p**s him off, so don't p**s him off"; referring to the main characters "eco" powers. Daxter states, "d**n straight." A side character starts to say "he is probably p**sing in his pants" but is stopped before he can say...pants. In one scene a female character states to the main characters, "Give 'em h**l boys!" The main character exclaims, "d**n, he got away!" There are also two misuses of "God".

Mild Violence: Most of the violence in this game ranges from cartoony to realistic cartoony; that is, the violence in this game is very chaotic and there is a lot going on, but it's nothing worse than a PG-13 movie in cartoon form. The main character fights humans, and monsters called the "Metal Heads," but mostly the latter. The story also has a mature and somewhat sarcastic feel, and even though there a quite a few comic moments spread throughout, it's still a bit dramatic (sometimes corny) and intense.

Specific scene of violence:

There is an early scene where the main character is fighting in the game's main arena; this match is to the death, but once he sees who he is supposed to kill, he finds the man is an old friend. When they refuse to kill each other, they are punished by--get this--having to go on a mission together, OoooKaayyy?! The leader of the arena says that by refusing to kill each other, they destroyed the "purity of the arena." Like killing for sport is pure :{

Suggestive Themes: All female characters in this game wear tight and/or revealing clothing, they also have exaggerated bust and hip sizes; there are "breast physics," so there is a bit of bounce here and there. Also there are a couple of paintings of women in bikinis, posing in a provocative manner.

In one scene "Pecker" (half parrot, half monkey) says that he has a harem of love birds and he doesn't get much sleep anymore. In the same scene Daxter (half otter, half weasel) gives "Pecker" the finger, but the actual gesture is not shown.

Daxter says, "I'm short, I'm hairy and I itch in strange places." Right after this he states, "You know what I miss? Soft underpants, you know, how it lifts and craddles?"; referring to when he was formerly human.

In one scene Daxter starts a silly rant while conversing with one of the main villians, here's how it goes: "Isn't it kinda nice, just to curl up in the shade sometimes? Just chillin' it... watching the hot babes prance around in their skimpy little bikinis, you know, just how they "jiggle," I get that special tingly feeling in my 'tail'." It's all very stupid, and doesn't even make sense within the context of the scene.

Daxter has a human girl friend named Tess. There is nothing perverted about their relationship, it's just odd. Later on at the end of the game she is transformed into the same thing Daxter is (half otter, half weasel). After she is transformed, Daxter says, "You may want to shave some parts, trust me."

Closing comment: This is a much better game than Jak II, and is more balanced in every way, with some of the best graphics on PS2: varied gameplay, more balanced difficulty, and lots to see and do. However, it still has some frustrating levels, the story is pretty contrived, and though it is easy to traverse through the wide open desert, it's still hard to manuever your vehicle around in the main city. Content-wise, it's very sarcastic, with lots of crude humor, suggestive themes, and some moderate language. And most of the game is too hard for kids 10-. So, I recommend this game for ages 14+.
